Cultural ResearchAbout Cultural ResearchCultural Research is the online archive for the research of Clyde Smith, Ph.D.I started presenting and publishing original research fairly early in my graduate education while earning an MA in Dance Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. After graduating in 1995, I went on to earn a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies in Education from the Ohio State University in 2000. After I'd completed my doctorate and was starting to do online projects, I thought of doing Cultural Research as a place to archive my work. I had published and presented papers in multiple research streams during my graduate education and some were not easily available, especially conference papers. Before completing the project, I found out about the open access publishing movement and realized that this project could be considered a self-archive. The idea is to make my research freely available with a focus on papers that have gone through peer review or editorial processes. However, I will include occasional pieces that were not published or peer reviewed yet seem useful additions to the topic. I intend to gradually add papers and, eventually, documentation of my work as a dancer, choreographer and performance artist. I will also be providing information on accessing work not available here as well as links to related projects that are freely available online. Please feel free to contact me if my work interests you or if you are doing related projects.
